Chaplaincy provides a positive impact on the character, attitudes and values of young people.
The Chaplain provides trusted guidance on spiritual, moral and ethical issues. The Chaplain is someone who staff, parents and students can voluntarily turn to in time of need and who offers practical support to students who are at risk. The Chaplain does not duplicate the work of teachers or parents, but makes a distinctive contribution within the entire school community.
Our Chaplain, Mrs Desi Wilkie, commenced in this role in September 2015 and to the children she is known as “Chappy”.
Mrs Wilkie has training in Mental Health, Child Protection, Rainbows (grief and loss program) and Critical Incident Responder. She has also recently gained accreditation and skills necessary for implementing Aussie Optimism, a mental health promotion program covering Social Life Skills and Optimistic Thinking Skills.
As part of her Chaplain role, Mrs Wilkie also runs the School Breakfast Program which is held every school day from 7.50am to 8.30am in the building next to the small oval. This is open to everyone.
The Uniform Shop is also housed in this building, and our Chaplain has on hand pre-loved uniforms kindly donated by parents of our students. These are available for new families to our school or families in need.
In 2016, Mrs Wilkie is onsite every Wednesday and Thursday, and if you would like to contact her please leave your name and phone number at the front office and she will be in contact with you.
